Metacorp accepts Melaka land offer |

Metacorp Development Sdn Bhd (MDSB) has accepted an offer from Melaka state government to compulsorily acquire five pieces of its land totalling 26.87 hectares for RM38.64 million.
In a statement here today, MTD Capital Bhd said MDSB in October last year also accepted the offer from Melaka state government to acquire its piece of land, measuring 6.04ha, for RM5.58 million.

PETROLIAM Nasional Bhd (Petronas) is mulling the possibility of increasing the production capacity of its refinery in Malacca and hopes to complete the feasibility study on the project this year, its vice-president for corporate strategic planning Md Arif Mahmood said. "We are now doing the feasibility study. The project is not sanctioned for us to move ahead. We will decide whether to proceed after the outcome of the study," he told reporters on the sidelines of the 15th Asia Oil and Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Melaka Halal Hub eyes RM155m investment |

The Melaka Halal Hub in Serkam, Jasin, aims to woo RM155 million investment by year-end, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam. Currently, the 53.6ha hub has received RM125 million investments, he said. "We hope to receive more investments from foreigners, especially from Saudi Arabia," he told reporters after opening a factory owned by Kewpie Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the hub today.

MELAKA, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Oriental Food Industries Holdings Bhd, a leading manufacturer and exporter of snack food and confectioneries here, sees strong export potential for "Zess" -- its chocolate rice crispy snack. Executive Director Son Tong Leong said Zess, being the first of its kind snack produced in Malaysia, received encouraging response since its launch early this year. "With this, we target to bring this new product overseas; to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Middle East countries, and anticipate Zess exports to outperform our local sales in the long term," he told Bernama after the company's 14th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

SIX laboratories owned by Melaka Biotechnology Corp (MBC) are ready to do high-scale tests for local industries and those from abroad. This will ensure the quality of the data and results produced, making it easier for local industries to market their products abroad. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the facilities can conduct tests in the fields of moleculor biology, bioinformatics, food analyses, chemical, phytochemical and microbiology as well as tissue culture and aquaculture.
